ENCROACHMENT - A situation where a structure is built wholly or in part onto an adjoining property. Examples are a neighbor's fence, storage shed, or overhanging roofline that partially (or even fully) intrudes onto your property. It is highly advised to have a professional survey performed before building any type of structure on your property even if you are clearly building on your property. Each city and county has specific codes and easements that are strictly enforced.
